In 2013 Emilie Gastaud was a nominee in the category Revelation Instrumental Soloist of the Year at the "Victoires de la Musique Classique" (Classical Music Awards). She was a co-soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio France and has been named as principal harpist with the National Orchestra of France under the direction of Daniele Gatti.

Thanks to her solid experience as a soloist and with renowned orchestras such as the French Youth Orchestra, the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and the Karajan Academy, Emilie Gastaud has performed in some of the greatest concert venues in Europe (Royal Albert Hall, Musikverein, Kölner Philharmonie, Munich...) and in South America under the musical direction of prestigious conductors such as Jesus Lopez Cobos, Claudio Abbado, Philippe Jordan, Simon Rattle, Seiji Ozawa and Gustavo Dudamel.

She has participated in many festivals including "Jeunes Talents" in Paris, the International Organ Festival in Roquevaire, "Harpe en Avesnois", "Kammermusiksalle" and "Schloss Bellevue" in Berlin, “Altenoper” in Frankfurt, Bilbao in Spain, and in Aix-en-Provence with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

In chamber music, Emilie Gastaud has also collaborated with trumpeter Romain Leleu, flautists Adriana Ferreira and Matteo Cesari, viola player Adrien La Marca, the Ellipse and Ebène quartets, the soprano Tatiana Probst and the violin player Mathilde Borsarello.

Born in Paris in 1988, Emilie Gastaud was taught by Frédérique CAMBRELING and later studied at the "Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique" (Conservatory of Music) in Paris with Isabelle Moretti where she was unanimously awarded first prize.

Her training at the prestigious Karajan Academy gave her the opportunity to play with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under the guidance of Marie-Pierre LANGLAMET. After obtaining a Masters Degree from Hochschule in Hamburg where she studied with Xavier de MAISTRE, she won the “Konzertexam” in 2010 with first class honours.

Her numerous awards from international competitions include : 2nd prize as well as the Spedidam and SACEM prizes at the International Harp Competition in Lille, France; an honourable mention during the finals of the Lily Laskine Competition and “Bärenreiter Urtex Preis” as well as in the semi-finals of the International ARD in Munich in 2009 with the Ebène quartet.

Emilie Gastaud’s first CD “Dansons avec les cordes” (Dancing with Strings) was released by Triton Records in 2012 and was recorded in collaboration with the actor André Dussollier.

Emilie Gastaud has a vast repertoire which covers French and international music, encompassing works by varied composers and aesthetics.

In 2016, Emilie Gastaud is invited to perform at “Les nuits de la Terrasse” in Beziers with the quartet Psophos and at the 30th anniversary of the Festival of Marseille.

Her future projects for 2017 include a piece for septet by Philippe Hersant in partnership with the Hermès quartet and Adriana Ferreira.

The artist plays a Lyon & Healy harp.
